A 3 Minute Overview of Chelation Therapy

Chelation TherapySince you’re reading this article, we will assume you’ve probably heard of chelation therapy in some form or manner, but maybe you’re still not exactly sure what it is and what its benefits can be. So we wanted to put together a quick overview of what it is, how it works, why people do it, and how you can start detoxing heavy metals from your body.

What is chelation therapy?

Chelation therapy is a method of introducing naturally occurring or synthetic organic chemicals, into the body, for the purpose of removing heavy metals. These metals such as aluminum, mercury, lead, cadmium, or arsenic can be toxic to the system and stored in tissues for long periods of time.

There are many naturally occurring chelates such as:

  • Magnesium in chlorophyll molecules in plants
  • Vitamin C
  • Garlic
  • Many natural enzymes
  • Iron in the hemoglobin of blood cells in man and other higher organisms
  • The incorporation of cobalt in the vitamin B-12 molecule

These chelates tend to be weaker and don’t produce the solid bond with metal ions that other chelation therapies do. In order to cleanse the body from heavy metal toxins a synthetic chelation agent should be used. There are 3 standard synthetic chelation therapies used today – EDTA, DMPS, & DMSA.

While there are proven benefits of engaging in chelation therapy, in recent years there have been claims of some unproven benefits such as treating conditions, including heart disease, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes. (Note, these claims are not proven, nor do we endorse them, simply stating it has been claimed by many & studied in recent years) Before we dig deeper into those claims and the actual proven benefits of the therapy, we will discuss how it works.

How does chelation therapy work?

Traditionally, chelation therapy involved injecting a type of medication called a chelator or chelating agent, such as the agents mentioned above, EDTA, DMPS, DMSA. Each agent is better associated to remove certain metals.

More recently the chelation therapy has been attempted orally, however the EDTA did not absorb well and caused damage to patients’ gastrointestinal tract. As a result, suppository chelation treatment was invented and has proven to be the most effective, safe, and inexpensive option available. Via suppository, Over 95% of the EDTA is absorbed into the blood stream through the hemorrhoidal veins, allowing the EDTA to stay in the blood up to 4 times longer than typical IV chelation therapy.

These chelators circulate through the blood stream and bind metals, effectively collecting all the heavy metals in a patient body into a compound, that is then filtered through the kidneys and released in the urine.

Actual Proven Benefits of Chelation Therapy

There is no argument that chelation therapy is an effective way to remove heavy metals and toxins from a patient’s body. While there is argument in the medical community about the effect of these heavy metals on the body and as catalysts to other illness and disease, there is consensus that chelation therapy removes these metals.

  • lead
  • arsenic
  • mercury
  • iron
  • copper
  • nickel

There are many ways in which our bodies are exposed to excesses of these heavy metals, which we discuss in, The Hazards of Heavy Metal Contamination. There are also multiple diseases and disorders that cause a buildup of heavy metals in the body such as Wilson’s disease, a variety of blood disorders, chronic kidney disease, and a condition known as hemochromatosis.

Unproven Benefits of Chelation Therapy

(Note, these claims are not proven, nor do we endorse them, simply stating it has been claimed by many & studied in recent years)

Due to the general health benefits associated with the removal of toxins from the body, chelation therapy has been considered helpful or useful for many different disorders, that may or may not be caused or enhanced by the exposure to toxic heavy metals.

The claims of how Chelation Therapy COULD help avoid or treat in a variety of direct and indirect ways include the following well-known disorders:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Heart disease – And subsequently diabetes
  • Autism
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • & Much More

At Chelation Health Products we suggest you do your own independent research to determine the best course of action for your disease or disorder treatment. We are not suggesting Chelation Therapy has any effects or treatments on the above listed diseases and disorders.

How Much Does Chelation Therapy Cost?

Since the inception of the suppository chelation administration, the cost of chelation therapy has gone down considerably. Previously chelation therapy would require a patient to travel to a location where they could receive intravenous medication several times a week, for long periods of time. Resulting oftentimes in hundreds of treatments and thousands of dollars.

Now, however, chelation therapy can be provided from the comfort of your own home for a mere fraction of the cost. For instance, our KelaminHM EDTA Suppository comes in a 30 count for just $129!

Our Summary

While research is still unclear about the exact relationship between many conditions and toxic heavy metals, there is no argument that chelation therapy is a very powerful and effective therapy to remove heavy metal toxins from the body.

Modern treatment methods, such as suppository administration, have changed the way in which chelation therapy is viewed and utilized around the world. Now interested patients have the ability to safely detox from the comfort of their own home, on their own schedule, and at a reasonable cost.

All in all, if you are worried about the effects of excess heavy metals in your body than chelation therapy is a terrific solution to provide the detox you are looking for.
